The best day ever <3

Friday evening Adam, who isn’t know for watching any movies created before the 80’s, was a good sport and watched Alfred Hitchcock movies with me; Rear Window and Vertigo. The movies ended and a glance at the clock showed 12:02 am — the start of a fantastic day.

Saturday morning, woke up slow and had a relaxing morning at home. Adam decided he would take the ENTIRE day off to spend together. He has been working so hard lately, putting in extended hours at work, so it was nice to see him relax and reward himself with a day off.

We strolled over to GAP and he was patient as I picked through items of clothing, considering spending the gift card he gave me the day before. Did some more window shopping at Bath & Body, Lush and various clothing stores on Powell Street. At Victoria Secret I found my “new scent” — pear body mist and bath cream.

Next we walked further up the street to Sugar Cafe, a place we frequent often. Today the cafe was beautified with heart-shaped decorations and we enjoyed coffee by the fireplace. Further down the street we remembered a “burger place” we ate at during one of our first weeks in the city.

On the way, we came across a new candy stored called Candy Darling. The chocolatier, visible from the store-front, was creating fresh truffles and placing them on wax-paper-covered trays. We selected a couple truffles to have after dinner this evening.

The burgers at Pearl’s Delux Burgers were simple and traditional and as tasty as we remembered. It was sentimental to think how much we’ve experienced in San Francisco since our first visit to this restaurant.

Leaving, we thought of our two good freinds that live in the area so we called them up and went over for a visit. We always enjoy visiting and have great conversations. The conversation lasted for some time before we realized it was nearing 5 pm! Almost ready for the SF Pillow Fight!

Heading towards the Embarcadero, Adam found a cool clothing store, The Hundreds, with one of the coolest store designs we’ve ever seen.

After being distracted by other stylish designer clothing stores, we met up with a cool group of 20Somethings at 111 Minna. Sipped down some cocktails, and 20 minutes later, we walked as a group to the location of the pillow fight. The crowd was so large, we lost our new friends almost immediately.

There were “pillow people” and feathers everywhere! Every now and then an entire pillow would explode and a huge cloud of feathers would fall over the crowd and be carried off in the wind. People could be seen watching from multiple levels of nearby buildings. At times it felt like we were standing in a snow globe. We even saw our friend, Morgan, who spotted Adam’s signature Pandora hat in the crowd. Pillows were bursting, but people with fresh pillows straight from the store kept arriving and we could see this would be a long match so we walked across the street to the ferry building to go to Scharffen Berger Chocolate and Ciao Bella (I highly reccommend the Mocha Chip gelato!).

By this time we had walked quite a bit and were thinking about dinner so we took the bus to Trader Joe’s. This was my first visit to Trader Joe’s and Adam was really excited about sharing the experience with me. It was AMAZING! We were expecially inspired to visit the store after watching this video (careful, the jingle is catchy and addictive).

I was completely floored by the selection of all natural/organic goodies. Everything was reasonably priced; surprisingly not more than the mainstream supermarkets. We were tempted by several items and left with three paper bags full, including some foods we’ve never tried before.

The bus took us home, practically to our front door. It’s been such a great day and is not even over yet. Adam is cooking a delicious organic dinner and we have wine, chocolates and cheese for dessert.

More than being spoiled with perfume and chocolates, the best part was the time we spent together. It’s Valentine’s Day, but I love him this much every day.
